Frankfurt Meetup
For this year’s European installment of the Around the World with the Numerati series, the Council of Elders (CoE) hosted a meetup in Frankfurt, Germany.
There was a busy schedule with seven talks from community members and CoE elders. To mention a few from notable community members, we had From Zero to Hero by Josef “svendaj” Švenda, Feature Selection by Daniel Springmann and My Journey to Expert on Numerai-Signals by Sandro Scodeller.
All of the videos and slides from the talks can be found on GitHub Materials from CoE Sponsored Meetups.
The CoE's next stop will be in Tokyo, Japan on June 20, 2024. You can visit the event’s eventbrite for more details. (Numerai Community Tokyo Meetup 2024)
Numerai.fund Pause
Numerai founder Richard Craib has announced through Discord that the fund’s performance will no longer be released publicly due to compliance reasons.
Data Science Bounty - Svendaj
Community member svendaj has been awarded a bounty of 50 NMR for his contribution of Kaggle notebooks for Numerai. These notebooks have been a great introduction for new users as well as a starting point to new topics for seasoned tournament participants.
The bounty came with a call to action from the CoE to community members interested in contributing to similar work.
A few starting points from CoE elder ia_ai Joe if you’re interested in contributing:
Create new Kaggle notebooks that tackle interesting problems in the Numerai dataset.
Improve existing notebooks by adding new functionalities, fixing errors, or making them more user-friendly.
Share you insights and learnings in the forum discussions.
Congrats to svendaj; we hope to see more bounty-worthy work in the future!
Grand Master Council Kick-Off
The inaugural GM council meeting was held last month, outlining the format of the council as well as the areas of interest to which participants may contribute.
One of the main goals of the council is to enable high ranking tournament participants (Grandmasters, Masters, plus community members who apply) to explore solutions by providing them with a large compute budget; something that would not have otherwise been done due to cost implications.
The main areas of interest explored during the kickoff meeting were:
Scaling laws for Numerai Models
Performance Uncorrelated Models
Better LightGBM Parameters
Search Instead of Learning
For a full explanation of each area of interest, you can watch the recording of the meeting here (Numerai Grandmaster Council | Q2 2024).
Lastly, if you'd like to apply to be able to attend these Grandmaster meetings, please do so through the following form: (Numerai Grandmaster Council Application Form)
